‘Du Bonheur’ means happiness in French, and I believe there is no better word to describe what I feel when I enter this pâtisserie located in Mitte, close to the Bernauerstrasse tube station in Berlin. As a big fan of French pastries, I was extremely happy to find out that they offer éclair on the menu. This is simply one of my favourite pastries, and I must confess that after eating so many éclairs in my life I have become a bit more picky about the ones I choose to eat to avoid disappointment.
That’s why I was so glad to realise that there is a pastry shop serving high-quality éclair at the corner of my house. In fact, it can be dangerous, but my self-control now allows me to visit the place less often that I would like to.
Apart from the éclairs, they also serve cannelés, pain au chocolat, macarons, croissant among other pastries that I honestly don’t know the name but that are so pretty that you almost feel like not eating it. The place is run by chef Anna Plagens, that worked with Pierre Hermé in Paris before opening her business in Berlin. That is why this is one of the best places to visit in town if you are nostalgic about French pâtisserie.
Du Bonheur is located at Brunenstrasse 39 10115 Berlin. Unfortunately, they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (when my cravings usually kick in) but are open from Wednesday to Friday from 8am to 7pm and on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 7pm.
Obs: unpaid content.
