Cocolo Ramen: yummy noodle soup in Mitte and Kreuzberg

Mar 2019 • By Flavia Coe • 0 Comments

Visiting Cocolo Ramen was in my plans since I moved to Berlin a while ago. But due to the variety of options in the city, I would always go somewhere else fearing the well-known queue outside the Mitte restaurant, as it doesn’t take reservations. A few months ago I felt lucky and decided to give it a go, but there were so many people waiting outside that my friend and I ended up somewhere else nearby.

Last month though I finally had the opportunity to try their famous ramen in Kreuzberg, where they opened a new branch recently and seem to have a shorter waiting time to get a table. The view from the canal and the interiors from the building are absolutely stunning, and the food… What can I say about the food? The broth is perfect (in both ramens I have tried so far) and the Gyoza is absolute heaven.

I was lucky enough to have a chance of being there twice already. Both times I have ordered their amazing ramen. The first time I went for the Tonkotsu, made with pork and an egg. It was the first time I have eaten sweet pork, and I have to say it was delicious. It was so good that the second time I went there I was determined to order the same dish. However, a friend of mine tried to convince me to try the Wantan option, which is a dumpling filled with shrimps alongside a broth with all flavourful items, including poached chicken (something I had never tried before). All I have to say is that it was totally worth leaving the pork and trying the shrimp option.

I can’t wait to go there again and am I honestly already a bit anxious about the choice I’ll face next time. Do I go back to the safe options I have ordered before, or do I try something new? If you ever been to Cocolo Ramen and recommend another flavour, please let me know.

Their Kreuzberg restaurant is located at Paul-Lincke-Ufer 39-40, 10999 Berlin

This branch opens from Monday to Saturday between 12 and 11pm.

Obs: unpaid content.
