Brunch in Neukölln: perfect pancakes and eggs benedict at Selig

Nov 2018 • By Flavia Coe • 2 Comments

I am a big fan of eggs benedict. As I soon as I found this beautiful restaurant called Selig serving it in Neukölln I couldn’t resist travelling all the way down to this place to try it. This very charming café, restaurant and bar is close to Tempelhofer Feld, besides a church entrance in Neukölln, a neighbourhood which I have described before as one of the coolest spots in Berlin.

I was determined to give their eggs benedict a try, but when I got there and saw the menu I found their options so vast and delicious that I had trouble deciding on what to order. In the end, I stuck to my initial plan and ordered eggs benedict and my husband the banana pancakes. Halfway through the meal, we swapped our food, so we both could eat a bit of both. That decision absolutely made my day.

The egg dish was absolutely perfect, with crunchy bacon, hollandaise sauce on perfectly baked bread. I almost gave up on exchanging dishes with my husband, but giving him the second egg in exchange for half of the fluffy and tasty pancakes was a wise decision. The pancakes gave me a final sweet touch I need at the end of every meal. I am also a pancake lover, and their version of it is one of the best I have tried in Berlin so far. We have chosen the bacon, bananas and syrup option and I have absolutely no regrets.

Besides these two dishes, they also serve other stuff like porridge, açaí, homemade granola, breakfast quesadillas, bagels and many other brunch or lunch dishes that I am sure are gonna turn your meal into a mouth-watering experience. To make things even better, the restaurant’s interior is absolutely fantastic, with high windows providing an amazing light all over the place. When I was leaving I saw that they also have amazing dessert options. They all looked absolutely delicious but unfortunately, I was full and couldn’t try anything else. Next time I’ll definitely make room for it.

Selig opens from Monday to Sunday between 10am and 19pm.
The address is Herrfurthplatz 14, 12049 Berlin

Content update: unfortunately Selig has closed its doors recently.
